Our 2017 ‘For Four’ tour of Japan went for two and a half weeks from November 6th to November 23rd. Travelling to and performing in 9 different cities, the ‘For Four’ project was a quartet made up of choir members Grace Cockburn – Soprano, Darya Schrueder – Alto, Rebecca Mooney – Alto and Director Dylan Curnow – Baritone, Piano.
The tour set list comprised of songs recorded and released on their recent album ‘For Four’, and stepped away from their acappella roots in favour of the addition of Dylan’s skillful piano playing for several tracks.
This tour helped to maintain and nurture the valuable friendships that Isabella A Cappella has formed in Japan. Aswell as growing our network to new venues: 19 Live Juke in Hiroshima and Miharu restaurant in the southern town of Miyazaki.
The ‘For Four’ quartet was a labour of love for the choir. Lead by Dylan, the album includes his original composition ‘The Fire still burns’ and majority of the arrangements were written by him with the four specific voices of this project in mind.
The wonderful Tazuko Mclaren, OBE cannot go unmentioned, and we thank her for her tireless energy and commitment in all she does to facilitate these friendship tours and for the Australia-Japan relationship.
